The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for the position of Associate / Journey Salesforce Developer, within the Information Technology department. This role is REMOTE AVAILABLE [R0147424].

Role of the Position

The Office of Information Technology will consider candidates for either Associate or Journey Developer roles based on relevant skills and experience.

Associate Salesforce Developer

The Associate Salesforce Developer (ASFD) will be a key member of the applications development team, responsible for a highly customized Salesforce instance. The ASFD will collaborate with the Digital Enablement (DE) leadership team to translate business ideas into technical solutions, recommend process improvements, and work with internal teams to develop custom solutions aligned with university goals. This entry-level role involves participating in brainstorming and design meetings, working under supervision on full lifecycle software development using Agile methodologies.

The ASFD is expected to:

  • Work with a small development team to design, develop, test, and deploy software/web applications.
  • Understand basic software engineering concepts and contribute to full lifecycle efforts using Agile, object-oriented design, and best practices.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements and develop technical specifications.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure project requirements are met and performance targets are achieved.
  • Identify and resolve software defects through various testing phases.
  • Ensure data integrity and system security by confidently addressing potential issues.
  • Produce project documentation, including functional/technical designs and user guides.
  • Support and troubleshoot issues for diverse users.

Responsibilities include developing and configuring Salesforce to support university processes, building applications using Apex and Lightning Components, creating proofs of concept, assisting with testing and deployment, and staying current with Salesforce technologies.

Journey Salesforce Developer

The Journey Salesforce Developer (JSFD) will contribute to the applications development team, supporting a highly customized Salesforce environment. The JSFD will work closely with DE leadership to implement business ideas, improve processes, and develop solutions across campus. This role involves proactive process improvement, collaboration, and participation in brainstorming sessions.

The JSFD is expected to:

  • Work independently on designing, developing, testing, and deploying Salesforce applications.
  • Understand software engineering principles and lead full lifecycle projects using Agile and best practices.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define requirements and develop technical specifications.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure project success.
  • Identify and resolve defects during all project phases.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation.
  • Handle complex support cases requiring advanced problem solving.

Responsibilities include configuring Salesforce, developing applications with Apex and Lightning Components, creating proofs of concept, managing testing and deployment, and staying updated on Salesforce innovations. Additionally, the JSFD will manage day-to-day work for Graduate Assistants.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. The role requires:

  • Associate role: At least 1 year of experience with Salesforce ecosystems, application/software development, Apex, and Lightning Components. Salesforce Platform Developer 1 and Salesforce App Builder certifications are preferred.
  • Journey role: At least 2 years of relevant experience, Salesforce App Builder Certification, and preferably experience in higher education and supervisory roles.

Additional knowledge and skills include familiarity with Salesforce APIs, declarative tools, Agile methodologies, relational databases, and modern development tools. Certifications and specific experience in Salesforce Education Cloud are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges are:

  • Associate: $91,700 - $94,400
  • Journey: $99,100 - $105,100
