Mechanical Make Components Intern

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking student engineers for our Mechanical Make Components group within Power & Controls, located in Windsor Locks, CT. As a co-op in this cross-functional group you will have the opportunity to work on components rangingfrom fuel valves controlling Jet engine fuel flow to pneumatic valves controlling Jet engine performance and passenger comfort. You will participate on a highly collaborative team to evaluate customer requirements and generate components that meet the highest levels of performance. Gain experience on both 1D physics based performance models, advanced modeling software including CFD and FEA, and communicating your designs and ideas to the wider Collins audience.

What You Will Do:

  • Gain knowledge in research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Participates in product development activities, executes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.
  • Participate in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layout, and development of performance or maintenance requirements. Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components.

What You Will Learn:

  • Learn about applied research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
  • Learn test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the companys performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
