Electrical Designer/ Engineer (Remote) EXP

Responsibilities

  • Meet the firms engineering quality levels for the discipline on assigned projects.
  • Oversee the development of design concepts by Designers and ensure proper application and execution.
  • Verify designerswork quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
  • Mentor and encourage development of Designer?level staff.
  • Apply the firms risk management practices to project engineering.
  • Lead the discipline design to produce construction documents that meet project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget while minimizing erroneous efforts.
  • Utilize a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
  • Encourage collaboration to seek the best solutions.
  • Front?end load projects and apply best practices to set the proper direction of the project in SDs and DDs.
  • Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  • Write studies and reports for electrical systems on projects.
  • Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
  • Be an expert in specific electrical requirements for applications within a market sector(s).
  • Evaluate Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with regard to project risk.
  • Edit and develop basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
  • Meet with contractors during the bid phase to review design details.
  • Guide Designers on preparation of one?line diagrams.
  • Assist in responding to RFIs for the project and accurately review submittals.
  • Solve installation problems with electrical systems, traveling to the site to resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance for calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of NEC and other codes.
  • Understand and correctly apply concepts of emergency and normal power systems.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of lighting, photometric, and lighting control systems.
  • Understand and apply concepts of voltage drop, conductor sizing, harmonics, etc.
  • Edit electrical specifications.
  • Select and schedule equipment.
  • Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application.
  • Understand circuit breaker coordination and application.
  • Apply details relevant to projects specific to market sector applications.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience in electrical design for Rail/Transit and Building projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC and building codes.
  • Experience using SKM Power Tools or similar software for engineering calculations (Fault Current Studies, Coordination Studies, Arc Fault Studies) preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • EIT preferred.
  • Strong understanding of industrial and commercial electrical design principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross?disciplinary environment.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $90,000 $110,000 (adjusted to experience, skills, certifications and geographic location).
