Job Title: Service Technician

The Service Technician provides on-site administrative and technical support to internal and external customers in maintaining Vesuvius products and applications. This role diagnoses technical problems or errors and works to determine proper solutions. The Technician also manages on-site activities such as installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks. Assists with project planning to meet requirements for product function, performance, safety, reliability, cost, and delivery. This role reports directly to the District Manager.

Dimensions of Position:

Trouble shoot problems of mechanical & Hydraulic systems

Coordinate with account managers and customers

Track mechanical performance

Liaison with Engineering and management

Create reports for trial updates

Written & verbal communication to obtain solution

Implement solution & follow up on solution outcomes

Complies with quality management system including adherence to procedures and development of Product Documentation for safe and effective Assembly and Use.

Qualifications & Experience:

High school diploma is required.

2 years assembly experience or industrial maintenance experience. Steel industry experience is a plus.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings.

Good mechanical aptitude to evaluate mechanical problems, outlines requirements, plan projects, and solve problems.

Basic working knowledge of hydraulics, electricity, and electronics

Basic mechanical skills: motor replacement, mechanical part replacement, testing of repaired equipment for the service of associated refractory application equipment.

Requires good reading, writing, and mechanical aptitude.

Ability to acquire an understanding of both the customer's process and products supplied.

Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:

Some local travel as needed

Continuously stand, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, push/pull, etc.

Use hands/arms to pick and carry product and operate required equipment.

Lift objects up to 35 lbs.
