Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $16 - $20 D.O.E. + Benefits

Shift: Nightshift (12.5% shift differential added to base pay)

Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for monitoring, processing and recording a company's outgoing deliveries including merchandise, stock, materials and supplies in a warehouse and dispatch environment.

Essential Job Functions (include but are not limited to):

  • Maintains an accurate running inventory
  • Restocks supplies and inventory; places blanket and special orders as needed
  • Enters purchase order data in the inventory control system
  • Accepts, verifies, inspects, and records all deliveries according to policy
  • Records, reports, and returns defective items
  • Processes invoices, supplying necessary data to accounting or other appropriate department for payment and recordkeeping
  • Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse area
  • Handles complaints related to shipments; notifies supervisor of any shipping or receiving issues
  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • Complete and demonstrate a full understanding of ongoing training concepts and applications
  • In addition to the essential functions and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
  • Emulates the Runbeck values in daily interactions with internal and external customers
  • Meet company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Education/Skills/Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with inventory control systems in a warehouse environment preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and meets deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and customer contact skills
  • Good written/verbal communication skills

Physical requirements:
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, or bend over
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Talk and hear, both in person and by telephone
  • Read and interpret documents in English such as job tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence in English
  • Speak in English effectively before groups of workers
  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Willingness to train in other departments
  • During election cycles, this position may be required to work up to 12-hour shifts and up to 7 days a week

Safety Requirements:
  • Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, property, or equipment damage
  • Comply with all company and customer OSHA, safety policies, procedures, rules, and best practices
  • Report any unsafe task, operation, or safety hazards immediately
  • Participate in ongoing safety meetings and training
  • Be constantly aware of personal safety and that of coworkers
  • Ability to use and operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment required for work safely and effectively

Training to be completed:
  • Forklift & pallet jack training
  • Comprehensive understanding of the vision, goals, and objectives of the business
  • All relevant Company Business System software
  • Company Learning Management System software
  • Successfully completing continuing education is required to maintain knowledge of systems and programs

Certificates/Licenses:
  • Must maintain current forklift & pallet jack certification
  • Must be able to pass all applicable background checks
